Sometimes as notaries we get confused about what kind of information we can offer clients—or we get confused about the authority of a notary. We are there solely to notarize the documents, not to explain the content to the client.

If a client has any questions, or is confused about the content of the documents, the best thing for you to do is to refer them to the company that created the documents or to a lawyer. As notaries, we do not have any authority to offer legal advice.
